The newly finished demonstration unit incorporates a showroom, gallery, designer's workshop, meeting area, bar, brainstorming balcony, washroom, and fitting room within a limited space and budget. The main materials used in the design include timber, concrete wall finish, wall paper, fabric panels, and stainless steel. Despite the challenges of a low ceiling height and a tight construction period of 25 days, the designer successfully created a functional and visually appealing space.
Located in Changsha, China, the project started in February 2016 and was completed in September 2016. The design team, led by Martin Chow, conducted extensive research on the local market and the target customers in Changsha. The concept of a fashion designer's workshop was chosen to cater to new designers who required small offices to start their businesses.
The Fashion Designer's Workshop in Changsha has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills while contributing to quality of life improvements. The workshop's design successfully combines art, science, design, and technology, making it a valuable addition to the property and the community.
